In 1995, FMC's sodium bicarbonate production process was deemed "Quality
System Certified" and granted ISO-9002 certification by Det Norske Veritas. FMC
is proud of this achievement and considers it an example of our continued
efforts to provide the highest quality to our customers.
Everything about making sodium bicarbonate-the process, the equipment, and
the materials used to make them, was selected to yield bicarb of the highest
possible quality. In the construction of the plant, FMC chose materials and
equipment that are compatible with the stringent quality requirements for making
pharmaceutical grade sodium bicarbonate. Being self supplied in the raw
materials for making sodium bicarbonate, FMC assures that its standards are
always fulfilled, and current Good Manufacturing Practices are used. This means
that each lot of bicarb meets our stringent quality standards. Trained
laboratory personnel using state-of-the-art analytical equipment measure and
certify the quality of our bicarb production. Product quality parameters are
recorded by lot number, and retained samples are maintained for 2-3 years.
Processing for purity is "business as usual" for FMC sodium bicarbonate.
The sodium bicarbonate produced at FMC's plant meets or exceeds the
specifications of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), and Food Chemicals
Codex. All product is approved as Kosher and Certified by NSF International for
use in potable water treatment.
No matter how many systems are designed to produce a quality product, quality
control is up to our operators. Our bicarb team members ensure that FMC
customers get quality and service with every bicarb order. Many of our bicarb
team members have made visits to customer plants to better understand customer
specifications, uses, and handling of sodium bicarbonate. The FMC bicarb team is
dedicated to providing you with a quality product and extends an open Invitation
to customers who would like to visit our facility.
