FMC Soda Ash Energy Surcharge for First Quarter 2012
The December 15th 3-month forward average for natural gas NYMEX futures closed at $3.171/Million BTU's. This means that the first quarter 2012 soda ash energy surcharge (ESC) will be $0.00/ton as shown in the table below.
Future quarterly surcharge adjustments will continue to be based on a rolling three month forward average ($3.171/MMBTU for 1st Quarter 2012) of the NYMEX Henry Hub Index as of the 15thday of the month preceding each calendar quarter. If the 15th day is a non-trading day, the close ("Most Recent Settle") on the next trading day will be used for the calculation. Soda ash margins are insufficient to absorb the risks posed by volatile natural gas costs; an energy surcharge provides a transparent means to share this risk with consumers. FMC will be integrating this surcharge into any future long-term contracts.
