FMC's, soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and sodium Sesqui TM carbonate satisfies
many diverse chemical unit operations.
FMC is the world's largest producer of natural soda ash (sodium carbonate).
Soda ash is effective for adjusting pH, buffering and precipitating metals. Soda
ash is a less corrosive, safer and a more cost effective alternative to caustic.
Sodium carbonate properties are ideal for environmental applications such as
flue gas desulfurization and scrubbing, water hardness control and acid
neutralization.
Soda ash provides a stable and predictable pricing alternative to caustic
soda. Soda ash can be used to replace caustic in many applications such as; pH
adjustment, acid neutralization, pulp and paper, chemical production, or flue
gas desulfurization.
Potable Water Treatment Utility processes can use soda ash, Sesqui TM and/or
sodium bicarbonate in the purification process. In its simplest application soda
ash is used as a pH adjuster to make the water less corrosive and to reduce
pipeline scaling. It also can reduce calcium or magnesium hardness, or remove
various other contaminants from the water. Sesqui TM and or sodium bicarbonate
can provide buffering or alkalinity sources. Our chemicals are Certified by the
NSF and the AWWA as direct water additives under ANSI Standard 60. NSF
Certification continues with our product as long as it remains in its original,
unopened container from our plant in Green River, WY.
Acid waste stream neutralization is another ideal use of our soda ash
products. Dense or light soda ash is used by many of the automotive battery
makers for sulfuric acid stream treatment in new battery production or for final
pH adjustment in any outflow effluent streams.
