Frequently Asked Questions

What is RTG?
FMC uses a system called Remote Tank Gauging (RTG) to monitor customer hydrogen peroxide storage tank levels. Tank level signals are recorded and a scaled signal is periodically transmitted via phone lines to a central database. FMC distribution personnel monitor tank levels stored in the database and schedule deliveries based on pre-determined reorder points. FMC completely manages the whole process, allowing the customer to devote resources and energy to more value-added tasks.

How does FMC's VMI system add value to a customer?
Security - First and foremost, VMI ensures product is always available when needed. Scheduling efficiency - Deliveries can be scheduled during predetermined hours to minimize customer disruption. Also, the need for emergency orders is essentially eliminated. Savings - VMI reduces transactional burden and correspondingly reduces costs. If consolidated invoicing is implemented, savings are realized on each purchase order eliminated. $200 is commonly considered to be the cost to process a purchase order. What is required to install the RTG unit?
The installation of the RTG unit requires a 4-20 mA signal from the storage tanks level monitoring instrument, a 110-volt power source, and a standard telephone jack. FMC provides simple wiring diagrams and instructions to assist with installation. FMC provides a data recorder programmed specifically to a customer's equipment.

How involved does the customer need to be with the VMI service?
Once installed, the system is remotely monitored by FMC and product delivered in accordance with predetermined procedures. Customers do not have to take an active role in inventory management.

How is the data used by FMC?
FMC uses the data to monitor customer use and to schedule deliveries based on reset reorder targets. The system has customer-specific reorder targets and also provides alarms direct to FMC distribution cell phones that alert of any product needs. The system is expandable to provide Internet access and future B to B transactions.

Who determines when a load of peroxide will be shipped?
FMC initiates deliveries based on customer specific refill criteria. With demand monitoring capability, FMC has the flexibility to schedule deliveries in order to minimize customer site disruptions.

How does the customer know that a peroxide shipment is on the way?
A customer is notified once a delivery is schedule via e-mail, fax or phone.
